Audi U.S. Sales Streak Continues for 68th Consecutive Month

Summer has come to a close for the Audi brand, but it has ended with a successful bang. The luxury car brand continued its U.S. sales ascent for the 68th consecutive record-setting month in August, achieving its best-ever August as well as the second-best sales month in the brand’s U.S. history. Audi Lynbrook, a premier Long Island Audi dealership, is pleased to be participating in this sales streak.

August marks the end of a successful summer selling season with key models such as the Audi Q3 drawing more customers to the brand. The previous August record was set in 2015 with sales of 18,794 vehicles. Year-to-date sales have risen 3.5 percent to 134,562 vehicles sold. August 2016 sales are second only to December 2015. Audi’s August sales increased 2.5 percent to 19,264 vehicles. Audi believes that this momentum will result in sustained growth for the rest of the year.

One of the strong points for the sales streak is the popularity of Audi sport utility vehicles (SUVs). With gas prices remaining low, at a national average of $2.22 per gallon, popular crossovers and sport-utility vehicles are flying off dealership lots, like Audi Lynbrook. August sales figures were bolstered by demand for Audi SUVs with a 9.1 percent increase over last August and a 20 percent increase year-to-date. The Audi Q3 posted its third consecutive sales record with 2,238 vehicles sold for the month, an 88 percent increase over August 2015. Sales of the Audi Q7 rose 16 percent from last August to 2,347 vehicles, with an increase of 56 percent year-to-date.

While auto sales cooled in August amid lagging consumer demand for cars, the Audi A4 sedan posted a 17 percent increase to 2,965 vehicles for the month and a 12 percent increase year-to-date. The Audi A3 model line posted 3,032 sales for August, including 346 deliveries of the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron. The plug-in hybrid has recorded sales of 2,637 vehicles year-to-date.
